About me
Ξ October 9th, 2009 | → | ∇ Uncategorized |
I live in Australia and am a 57yo, post- menopausal woman and artist. Why does she mention that you ask? Because it is relevant. Your (or at least my) attitudes, inspirations and drive changes. Instead of looking externally for validation through the attentions of the opposite sex, you begin to look internally
for signs of worth, and ask who am I and how did my life turn out like this? All of this shows up in your work.
I have always loved art, even when I didn’t have the tools I was driven to create, I remember painting a picture with boot polish and a hair brush when that was all I had, LOL!
My influences have been many and varied, I love art history but alas my memory is one of the things
I have lost on my way here to 59.
I will list here the artist whom I have most admired and been interested in a soon as I can par the list down to fit on the page and then give a brief description of what kind of art I do.
“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint”-Edward Hopper1882-1967
This (the quote) just about sums up my artistic journey. On this blog I hope to post my paintings and “my journey” through (where they took me) and to (how I got to the end result) my paintings. My brain is rusty, I can barely remember the English language and I used up all my wit (or what I thought was wit) being loud at parties in the 70’s—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Just letting you know I dropped in. I read part of your very long post about words. I have to go now, but I will be trying to prove you wrong about some of them while I do the dishes & tidy up before my friend comes.

Yes, the post menopausal IS relevant. I work with a young man and good guy tho he is, hardworking and full of information and talents and interests that I don’t have … there is something about the path of my life that is so full. I cherish the richness of these years even though they have been very hard work. Nope, I wouldn’t trade them. Imagine the wealth at 80. At 100.

Thanks Robinsunne,
To tell the truth I didnt think anyone would read that, nothin happened here for a LONG time, but I dont need to IMAGINE 80, I look after my 87yo Mum and I dont want to burst your bubble but there seems to be a small leak where that “wealth” has leaked out LOL!She is wonderful and I adore her but she complains that she cant remember what day of the week it is most days let alone access a deep wealth of knowledge,on the UP side she doesnt really CARE! LOL! Sort of like the joke about the lady who took Vallium by mistake thinking it was the pill , she now has 20 kids but doesnt really care! Just kidding, funny enough I wouldn’t go back either.

Lee, i’m really happy to meet you. I found you because you left me a comment on my little tutorial. Being post-menopausal myself, I can identify with your perspective. I’ve been a musician ALL my life and an off and on artist until now. Seems like all I do is art anymore. I must agree with Hopper. Thanks for coming by my place. I’m eager to look around yours.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! I notice you have WordPress - I just opened an account so that I can do the blog buttons for WordPress users. It’s a nightmare! I find the blog really hard to use, and no help anywhere. I managed to get the email ones to work, but can’t post up how to do them as the code changes… Very weird. How are you finding it? Love your blog, BTW - doesn’t look anything like the templates!
